The Fat Old Lady's still not singing...

As Juve incredibly confirm they are to make a THIRD appeal against their relegation to Serie B for match fixing allegations. I am absolutely amazed at the fact they still feel hard done by. Clearly, if you get caught fixing matches, you should pay the price. No matter who you are.

"We have the duty to safeguard the team, players and supporters' honour and also the club's heritage," Cobolli Gigli (Juve President) told Gazzetta dello Sport. Well, perhaps they should have thought about that before they got caught trying to buy the Scudetto. It just goes to show that the Old Lady still feels she is above the law. If they manage to avoid relegation, it will only prove that this is indeed the case.

It's also a very short-sighted move. They're trying desperately to get reinstated in Serie A, which will mitigate the financial losses they've already suffered - but only slightly.

By continuing to whine like this, they're plunging the Juve name further into the mud, which is what people will remember in the long term. If they WERE to be reinstated, the damage done to their brand, and to Italian footie as a whole, would be far more extensive and would have massive (albeit less tangible) negative financial repercussions.

On a lighter (or rather heavier) note - Milan are buying Ronaldo! Hilarious. Yes, he's fat and crap, but it'll be worth it to see the Interisti faces...

Looks like the potentially negative implications for Italian football are a good deal less nebulous than my last post implied:

I can't see Milan getting him. By the look of things, Real want to swap him for Kaka. Yeah, that's a fair swap...

And I think Juve will back down now that FIFA have got involved. I mean, they could easily get relegated another division or theoretically even get closed down.
